The Yogscast Nostalgia Machine (fan made)

What dis?

Bee-boop-boop — that’s the sound of the Nostalgia Machine booting up. I grew up watching the Yogscast, and I still love re-watching their videos to this very day. I always found YouTube a bit of a mess for this stuff, so I built this machine. Now I can pretend it’s 2012 and I’m watching the Yogscast before bed. It’s not quite the same, but gosh darn it, it’s close.

What feeds the machine?

Every video’s title, description, view count, upload date and duration is pulled from the official YouTube Data API, using the Yogscast’s public uploads. A small automated job checks for new uploads once a day, so the site picks up new videos without anyone having to do anything by hand.

Filters

The original idea for this machine was just an “On this day” page, but the more I used it, the more I wanted to watch specific things, so I’ve added a filter. It’s pretty straightforward to use: search by title, or pick a date, game or series. Autoplay is on there too, so once you’ve found what you want you can just sit back and let it run. This feature is still in development and will be updated soon.

Because it has to be said

This site isn’t affiliated with The Yogscast. It’s an independent fan project, built for fun, and isn’t run by or officially connected to The Yogscast in any way. All video titles, thumbnails and content remain the property of their original creators. Every video plays through YouTube’s own player and links back to the original upload on the Yogscast’s channel.

Analytics and your privacy

Because I’m a nosy fucker who likes watching the traffic numbers go up, this site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which parts of it get used — for example, how many people visit, which pages they view, and which searches, filters and videos are popular.

It doesn’t collect your name or contact details, and the numbers are only used to improve the site. Google Analytics stores a few cookies in your browser to do this, and Google processes the data under its own privacy policy.

Videos play through YouTube’s privacy-enhanced (“nocookie”) player, which only starts storing anything once you press play.

You can switch analytics off for this browser at any time:
